Hallman got some pretty good talent (as DiNardo showed pretty quickly in his first year by winning immemdiately), but because he was a buffoon and kept losing, it was hard to keep the best of the best in state. DiNardo did better and started with getting some of the best of the state to stay here (Kevin Faulk, etc.), but Saban really emphasized locking down the LA talent and when you look at his 2003 national championship roster, it was loaded with stars from Louisiana who basically all ended up playing in the NFL.
