Funny yet arbitrary timeframe

Not exactly. More of the current era instead of from the beginning of college football. You know the answer to the question though.

No. The term 'Major Infraction' was created in 1952 by the NCAA to govern schools.

Why would you define 1986 as the year college football became "current era"? And why leave off the other 34 years?

1986 and 34 years seem like a pretty arbitrary date and number.

But seriously though, where in the frick do you get 30 years as the cutoff? It's just absolutely arbitrary. Anyway, this discussion is all just wasted energy. We can all agree that Auburn is historically the most notorious cheating program in the SEC (literally the most major infractions in major college football, being put on probation by SACS for lacking academic credibility in its quest to win football games, etc, etc). All that said, Alabama's history is almost as bad, so let's not throw stones in our glass houses. While Alabama is thankful their history of cheating is not as shameful as Auburn's, it is still nothing to be proud of, and we can all be thankful we aren't PSU level depravity. Let's gain some perspective folks.
