Yes, he didnt know what the hurricane would do. At that time it looked really bad for all of Florida. Folks on TV were telling people YOU WILL DIE, YOUR CHILDREN WILL DIE and Gainesville was in some of those projections. Albeit on the edge but nevertheless it wasnt a sure fire bet gainseville was safe.

Second, again, family situations, UF campus situations. Asking Florida players to leave BEFORE the thing hits, and this is the point most people wont make, those LSU moves happened AFTER the damage had been assessed and all was over with. This fricker hadnt even hit yet and nobody knew what would happen except the people telling Floridians they and their children would die.

Now, take off your glasses and ask yourself, in Shankeys shoes, you tell Florida play it or else and a tragedy occurs. Might be a long shot but NO ONE said Gainesville was safe much less the east coast where a lot of the players are from. YOU, Greg Sankey sent this team into what was possibly a killer situation and we had a loss of life or two or a players mom was killed or a dad was injured but bi god you play anyway. You want that on your hands?

All turned out ok so far and hindsight is 20/20. NOBODY said there would be no impact. All that was said was it would bad, real bad and PEOPLE WOULD DIE. What the hell was he supposed to do? I think it should have tentatively scheduled for Monday with a "wait and see" but no way could they take a chance on saturday and moving the game to Baton Rouge, i wouldnt have either. It wasnt Florida being scared but South Carolina being stupid and bending over and taking it.

Now, Sankey should make the game take place on Monday or later in the season and compensate LSU for the lost home game revenue. I know good and dam well the SEC has it but as of yesterday he did what he thought was right. Remember, YOU WILL DIE coming from TV talking heads.

Its easy to sit here and armchair QB and its a whole different ballgame when people who could possibly be put in harms way are looking at YOU and waiting on YOU to make a decision that may be life altering.

I think Alleva is grandstanding for himself a little. I'm told about the rescheduling, Sankey said we'll talk about it when this is over. Not we wont talk about it and thats final. Sankey never said that.
Look, its no secret Alleva is a desperate man right now. he has little support from his employer and his employers constituents. He is going to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to look good. He kinda looked shitty in the PC yesterday basically saying I did all I could without hardly any consideration to the Florida people. He made a little comment but mostly it was look at me, i did what LSU fans wanted me to, see I'm good, I fight. Not, we'll play this game someway somehow, I'll make sure of that but right now let's get through this. We certainly understand hurricane impacts and we'll discuss this game later. He was all about himself and loook LSU nation, I went down swinging and wanted to play NO MATTER WHAT so I'm really good. If you couldnt see his desperation you are blind.

There's your serious answer.

What if the game was originally scheduled in BR? Should Florida have been given a reschedule so players could stay and take care of their families?

What a load of crap.

Everyone else could accommodate the storm, but not Florida.

It's because they don't want the loss - OBVIOUSLY.

If you're so worried about everyone, simply move it to Sunday.
