Obviously they have never won a SEC title, but I never followed them in the big 12 and always considered them the little sister to Texas so im not sure how many big 12 championships they won. It just seems like this saturday is their Championship game to their fans. They seem so excited to play an established champiomship team in Tennessee who has 13 SEC titles and 6 national titles. Im sure we get their best game, good luck aggies

What a coincidence you joined the Rant when A&M played first season in the SEC.
SO.... there's that.

Texas A&M - 18 years since their last conference title

We play Alabama, LSU and Auburn every year, who have won a combined 7 National championships since the last time Tennessee won one .

Yeah this is accurate so I don't really think this thread makes a whole lotta sense.

A&M has 18 Conference Titles, 17 from the SWC and 1 from the Big 12. We had the 2nd most SWC Titles. We have 3 NC's but all were a long time ago. This is currently the longest stretch A&M has ever gone without a conference title in its history.
From essentially the 1910's into the 1940's A&M was a very good football team and that's when we won our NC's and a number of conference titles. from the end of WWII until the early 70's we sucked outside of the brief Bear Bryant era and a Cinderella season in '67. We were essentially an all male military school that got hammered because we had half the scholarships of some of the other schools we played. In the '70s is when we grew like crazy and started to consistently win (for instance A&M is tied with Texas over the last 35 games in the series). The mid '80s under Sherrill and then the '90's under Slocum we won 7 Conference Titles in 13 years (and were undefeated another season but ineligible for the Title).
Historically A&M is a Top 20 program essentially, it just has a very unusual history of ups and downs. Of course now we have far more money and resources than ever and we haven't been winning big. Of course there is still hope this season...

Coincidentally, I believe that was the 1994 season that A&M went 10-0-1. After the game this Saturday, A&M will be 6-0 for the first time since that '94 season.

Wrong big sister.
We all played little sister to Oklahoma in the Big 12, they've won half the conference titles since the league was born. The other half are split fairly evenly between the other teams.

We're excited every week.
That's just our nature.
When you've been stuck for years playing the likes of Iowa State, Texas Tech, Baylor, and Kansas, even SEC mid-tiers like Tennessee get our juices flowin'.

People love the "how many big12 titles" smack, and it rustles me not.
It just doesn't have enough history to draw any long term trends or conclusions. We had our 2nd worst decade in history span over half our time in the big 12. That's mostly about two bad coaching hires in a row.
During a lot of our time in the "Big12 South" it was the best division in football. Better than either SEC division.

Bingo. You guys essentially replaced Oklahoma State. Your the orange team we don't care about, that could be good but probably isn't.
We're not excited to play you specifically. We're excited to be undefeated and have college game day. We're excited to be in the SEC. Mostly, Aggies just stay excited. It comes with all our endurance jar training.

So true. I recall a time when 5 of the Big 12 teams were in the top 10 nationally. Most brutal division ever.
