well cause we were in a really deep hole. recruiting was a mess, the roster was a mess, and NCAA sanctions were looming. No serious hire was going to want to come here. He is %200 dedicated to making this program the best he can. There is no other place he wants to be. I still think if he has a chance he will bring us back but only time will tell. At the very least he is the guy who will stabilize the program so we can get a decent coach.

That's some of the same reason I like the BO hire. There is no other place he wants to be. He wants Mizzou to excel the way we want Mizzou to excel. It's not just a paycheck. He's learning how to be a head coach on the job, but I bet he get's there.

In general we go a little nuts on coaching hires .
We are not a blue blood, we can't get the hottest name available, at least not without throwing scads of cash, and even if we do they could very well be looking at their next job.

Look at the way the LSU guys are looking at their search (they are a blue blood). They are not all in on Herman or anyone else. They recognize Herman is unproven at the SEC level, and if he is successful may very well go to Texas anyway. They are not all in on anybody. Errbody has positive and negatives, and they don't assume they can get whoever they want.

Contrast that with the second level guys like SC going all in on Herman (look how that worked out), or us going all in on the Purdue Bball coach.
