yes i understand this is a left / right issue.
the reason that is the case is the left want to raise taxes and increase spending. this issue is made to order for that end

I think a lot of conservatives/Republicans don't disbelieve humans affect climate, they resist the implication that the government must therefore step in and control human consumption/energy use.
