Doesn't matter if it is in your car (and within reach) you've got to have a permit.
And yes, it is a stupid law. The legislature has introduced bills to match our surrounding states for years but they die because the Sheriff's association fights them. The revenue from pistol permits go to the county sheriff - and many make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year off them. Most of that would dry up if you didn't need a permit to carry in your vehicle and the sheriff's know it.

yeah, they are our biggest problem. I dont think they will be able to do much next year though when Constitutional Carry goes through, which I expect it to easily
