You doubt there is a possibility that some of the players may have supported or thought that Barnett was the better qb? Really? How can a reasonable man ever contend or believe that a thing is impossible or in a case like this, even unlikely. It's at least naive to think that. Especially when even Saban comments on a " significant competition at that position". (see link below)

Some unbiased observers would judge Barnett to be the better qb in a pro style offense. It's pretty obvious that Saban and Kiffin have broadened the Alabama offense to take advantage of current rules and trends, but it's entirely....possible....that there will come a game that Hurts is struggling in the passing game, and we'll miss Barnett.

As Saban said, Barnett visited his office before Wednesday’s practice to talk with him about the future. The Crimson Tide head coach was asked how those meetings go and what he tries to do when a player comes to him with concerns.

“I listen, I try to understand, listen really closely about what their concerns are,” Saban said. “I understand that everybody wants to play. I understand only one guy can play quarterback, although we’ve had a pretty significant competition at that position. Both guys have played quite a bit and done good things at time.

You make indisputable points about players possibly supporting one or the other. It's impossible to say either way. However, Hurts is the best quarterback on this team. I think we've moved past the point of yanking him if he is struggling. He's the man, barring injury.

Moreover, if we get into a game where we have to drop back over and over, I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer Hurts' escapability and less accurate arm to Barnett's arm and lack of escapability.
