Do you think Richt had something to do with that? I would be willing to bet that he talked with Williams and strongly hinted that it was needed badly. Obviously a guess on my part, but I was around football long enough to make that guess.

I doubt Richt wanted Williams to call out half the defense publicly for being soft. It was a risky move and not really Richt's MO. He probably would have rather it been handled privately at that time. Fortunately it worked out.
It would be a interesting case study on locker room chemistry if, say, Trent Thompson or Roquan Smith did that now as sophomores.
