My own personal opinion is if Gus struggles this year and goes 7-5 or worse, he is forced to clean out his offensive staff, hire a new OC and let him run the show. If that still doesn't work, he is axed after 2017.

He has done a lot of stuff well. He has AU in the top 10 every year in cruitin'. He has Steele there now running the defense better than it has been ran in about 8 years. The talent is there on both sides of the ball, he just needs to put the offense back together.

In life, things are never as bad or as good as they seem. In this case, they aren't as bad as people think, imo. AU played CLEMSON (top 5 team) and lost by a few points. AU played TAMU (top 20 team easily) and lost. AU played LSU (always loaded with NFL talent) and eeked out a win. It's not like AU has been playing cupcakes here. I think it's a very similar situation to Ole Siss and their brutal opening schedule.

I think Gus has 4.7 million reasons to get things turned around and I think he will. If he doesn't, oh well, it's not the end of the world. Plenty of good coaches out there.
