Frick the whole receivers not trying thing. I understand conserving energy, but just standing there makes it look like you don't even care.

Dudes wide open as a check down.

Not sure that's an option though, given the speed and locking in of one side of the field.

Seems like they don't want Lock to think, just react.

That's what the air raid is... Fast tempo keeps the defense from substituting... If you don't let a receiver rest, it would all be for moot.

It isn't about energy. It is about keeping at least 1 defender if not two out of the box and leaving space from the middle to the side of the field being used. They also serve as a bailout receiver and a run blocker if the play breaks down and QB bails out the back door.
