LOL....don't flatter yourself Bammers.
Not flattering Bama...Miami (and the media) was talkin' best dynasty ever when, not if, they won that game. Nobody was picking Bama; all the talking heads and experts in the media were predicting an easy double digit win for Miami. For a team that was coming off 7 top 3 finishes in 10 years, do you think they were happy with a 3-loss top 15 finish the following year? How many top 3 finishes have they had since? Miami lost their swagger, at least for a few years, after that game...
And no, if they'd beaten Nebraska two years later, there's no way they jump an undefeated Penn State for #1...this was in the years of the BCA, not the BCS...Penn State was loaded in '94 and got a lot of first place votes as it was...

The 93 Sugar Bowl killed the Miami "dynasty". Their success was built on swagger and intimidation. Alabama stripped both from them and left them exposed.
Then Arizona the following year finished them off. They would rebuild years later, but the dynasty was dead and has never been the same since.

And if Miami hadn't turned it over 4 times, they would have won that game. Hell no they weren't happy with a #15 ranking in '93. Unfortunately after Kelly, Kosar, Testaverde, Walsh, Erickson and Toretta - 15 straight years of All-American quality QB's they found themselves without one in 1993 and couldn't get one after the NCAA dropped the hammer. You are probably right but there was chatter about Miami jumping Penn State since Penn State didn't beat a top 10 team while Miami would have defeated 2 top 5 teams.
