Truth be told, Spurrier himself killed the program. That game just brought to light the fact the emperor had no clothes (or players as the case may be....)

That is the case with all these games- something behind the scenes changed that caused the drop off prior to the loss.
With Miami it was an administration hostile to athletics (and the fact their best cheater got arrested). With Vandy it was not hiring a good enough replacement to Franklin. With Texas it was poor QB roster management and recruitment after Vince left (Colt was a three star they got lucky with).
The "program killing game" is merely the reflection of what happened behind the scenes, but it is still significant when it happens because that is when the world learns "hey these guys fricked up!"
