According to several Alabama beat writer twitter accounts....

quote:

Alex Byington ?@abyingtonTD Per Alabama, the 75-yard INT return for a TD by @jonathanallenj was officially changed to a fumble return for a score. So no Pick-6.
quote:

Alex Byington ?@abyingtonTD The reason for the change is Chad Kelly's arm was never in a throwing motion, so it can't be an interception.

Matt Zenitz ?@mzenitz Was determined that Chad Kelly's arm was never moving forward. Tim Williams gets credit for a strip-sack

Does the QB's arm going forward not matter if it was because of contact from Tim? I might be wrong but I thought it looked like he had started his throwing motion.

Well this is definitely newsworthy.

It's still worth 6 points.

That arm is definitely going forward. But there were a lot of strange things being called Saturday so this does not surprise me.

It was close. First angle looks like he had started throwing motion right before hit (i.e., int/pick-6). Second angle looks like the hit came first (i.e., fumble).

Also, Surrender Cobra at 0:27 is awesome.

His arm was going forward, if that hits the ground they are gonna call it incomplete.

Or did you mean to post this on the Bama board?

It was a strange looking play. I was actually surprised he caught it with the way it came at him so suddenly.

Regardless of fumble or pick 6... Swag Kelly received one hell of a bitch-slap on that one
