Since North Carolina lost their site, you'd have to think that Columbia would be an easy choice for the NCAA.

The bid for 2019-22 has been submitted, and winners should be announced by late December. But the new announcement could bring earlier good news.

There are two drawbacks if USC wins a bid. If the Gamecocks men advance to the NCAA Tournament in a year CLA hosts a regional, they couldn’t play on their home floor. Despite that, Morris said coach Frank Martin supports the bid.

Also, USC’s women’s team wouldn’t be able to play at CLA during the NCAA Tournament. Women’s sites are awarded based on merit, and Dawn Staley’s program has earned the right to host in each of the past two seasons. Since the men’s and women’s tournaments begin on the same weekend, the women would have to play elsewhere if CLA is hosting a men’s regional.

USC has fully supported the bid for a men’s regional, even if it means the women have to give up a host site they earn.

North Carolina recently had 7 NCAA championships removed because of that shitty law. South Carolina is the obvious choice to relocate.

I had a UNC buddy, used to be on their board of regents, who told me this was coming a couple of weekends ago when he and I were texting during the UGA/UNC game. He said the NCAA is out to burn the state over this ... that they consider this bathroom thing a major issue up in Indianapolis and they'll directly affect NC state politics with this decision.

I mean this thing is big up in NC because of Tobacco Road ACC basketball.

I would prefer that the NCAA stay out of politics and stick to rules enforcement ... but I suppose that's too much to ask these days.

IMHO the NCAA should be abolished just like the IRS.

No bid being submitted. Lack of hotel space.

I would think most of the hotels would be booked up with the events for the spring 2017.

If we could make this work in 2018 or going forward It'll be great. There's always a good chunk of revenue for those hosting cities
