Alabama was back on the field Wednesday for its second -- and final open -- day of on-field preparation for the Chattanooga Mocs. The Crimson Tide players practiced outdoors and in full pads on a sunny, 73-degree afternoon.

Here are several observations from the media viewing portion of Alabama’s Wednesday practice in Tuscaloosa:

- The situation at right guard remained the same with Korren Kirven receiving all of the first-team reps Wednesday, while Joshua Casher was with the second team and Lester Cotton was at right tackle with the second-team offensive line.

“I think right guard has been -- losing Alphonse Taylor and playing several different guys at that position -- is still sort of a work in progress,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said Wednesday on the SEC coaches teleconference.

- Running back Bo Scarbrough (knee) saw reps behind Damien Harris and Josh Jacobs during team run drills and appeared to be moving fine with help from a brace on his right knee. On Monday, Saban said Scarbrough needs to “develop confidence in what he needs to do.”

- A handful of offensive players sported scout-team jerseys, representing Chattanooga standouts. They were:

Ronnie Clark -- RB Derrick Craine (5-10, 205)

Xavian Marks -- RB Richardre Bagley (5-9, 180)

Truett Harris -- TE Malcolm Colvin (6-2, 240)

Cam Stewart -- TE Bailey Lenoir (6-4, 245)

- Former defensive back Jabriel Washington was spotted at the facility before the two media viewing periods.

- NFL scouts from the New York Giants and Chicago Bears watched Wednesday’s practice from the sideline.
