TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama coach Nick Saban spoke to reporters after practice on Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide (10-0, 7-0 SEC) hosts Chattanooga (8-2) on Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Highlights from Saban’s time at the podium:

-As I said earlier in the week, the focus needs to be on improving and trying to do everything well. You need to focus on what’s going to help you today, not what’s going to happen in the future.

-We’ve talked about playing to a standard. You have to execute to a standard and prepare to a standard.

-After games, I shake hands with the players on the other team. After that, I go in to a press conference with my favorite family of people. Then I shake hands with all the recruits. After all of that type of stuff is done, I head home and I’m lucky to get something to eat. I hate to see what would happen if we lost.

-I think Jalen Hurts operating under center is important to him and the team. He’s improved in that area and hopefully we can continue to build on that.

-Lester Cotton has been a tackle for us for a long time. We tried to work him at guard. The development hasn’t happened as fast as we’d like. In order to get the five best players on the field, we’re working some guys at different positions. We’re still working Lester at both tackle and guard.

-In my opinion, JK Scott is the best punter in the country in terms of what he does for our team. I’m not going to criticize anyone for what their opinion is. (Scott was left off the semifinalist list for the Ray Guy Award).
