USC's women soccer finished 12-5-3 last season and ranked 16th in the final poll. They lost in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament however to UNC-W.

Overall the Gamecocks have appeared in 9 NCAATs - 8 of them in the last 9 seasons - thus far. The year before last (2014) they reached the elite eight defeating 6th-ranked UNC along the way, before falling to FSU. They finished ranked 9th in the final polls....

This season thus far the team is 2-0-1 with a win over NC St. on Thursday. They started the season ranked 24th but I guess the tie with Oklahoma in 2 OTs caused them to drop out. They will return to the rankings soon enough.....

The men's team hasn't experienced as much success as the women's team has, but they come off last season where they reached the NCAAT for the first time since 2010, losing in the 2nd round in overtime 1-0 to UCSB. In 2010 the men's team won the C-USA tournament and also advanced to the 2nd round of the NCAAT before losing 3-1 to Michigan.

They came into this season ranked as low as 21st, but just lost last night in their season-opener at home 2-1 to rival Clemson who is currently ranked #3. They may drop out of the rankings but then perhaps not after the close loss: the home game attendance of 6,892 was a program record....

Update: The women's team have yet to lose a game after tying in their season opener and are now 9-0-1 (3-0) and are back in the top 10 rankings at #8 after defeating LSU 3-1 yesterday. The goal is the first one allowed by the Gamecocks to SEC opponents thus far. They will host Kentucky on Sunday.

The men haven't had as much success thus far as the women, but are 4-3 (1-0) on the season, and just came off a thrilling 3-0 win over then-ranked #18 Furman. They will next host Georgia State on Saturday....
