re: If Tennessee wins the East, it's because Mizzou and Georgia had a down year

Tennessee will carry the East this year. Florida is down. Georgia will suffer growing pains this year. Mizzou has returned to bottom-dwelling. SCAR has a ways to go to retake its rightful place at 4th in the East.

Maybe but I'm not high on Mizzou this year.

I'm not a Mizzou hata either (one of the few on this board that can say that) but UT, UF, and UGA are critical to making sure the East is strong and there are really a lot of reasons for that beyond simple history/tradition. Your first SECe division team was good - the next one was bad.

I believe Mizzou needs to rebuild and has a ton of unknowns, including wiBO. DL should be strong again.

You say "returned" as if that's where Mizzou has always been.

Yet, Mizzou has won the East 50 percent of the time.

let's not forget there was a point in time where arkansas could claim they'd been to 25% of all SECCGs too..

Vanderbilt won the first two Southern Conference (predecessor to the SEC) titles. They haven't won anything since. Mizzou is right on track.

Given this recent trend.

2015 - Ole Miss played Florida as an East opp.(SEC East Champs were Florida)
2013 - Ole Miss played Missouri as an East opp.(SEC East Champs were Missouri)
2012 - Ole Miss played Georgia an an East opp.(SEC East Champs were Georgia)
2011 - Ole Miss played Georgia as an East opp.(SEC East Champs were Georgia)
2008 - Ole Miss played Florida as an East opp.(SEC East Champs were Florida)

Congratulations on the SEC East title, Georgia, you're playing Ole Miss this season so the odds are in your favor to win your division.

How bad do you think Mizzou will be this year?

It does not look good from a distance, but I do not usually look very closely at East teams, except FLA and GA.

And this is precisely why most here think Mizzou will be so bad.

Some teams will get the benefit of the doubt. Others won't. Just the way it is.

Our DL is elite as usual, and the back 7 is stacked with talent, experience and depth. Defense is going to be very good.

Lock will be better. He's not the scrawny freshman that wasn't ready to play anymore. We've done a fantastic job of replenishing our RB corps. The OL is concerning, and so is the WR corps although not as much as the OL. Those two issues could very well derail the season, but if we find some answers there we will be pretty good.

wiBO did a great job of putting together a staff, and his moves seem a lot more based in common sense than the ones Pinkel was making late in his career.

I have heard this a few times recently. How does one look from a distance at a team and gleam any info towards how well they will do? What tools are out there now to do this for a college football program?

I don't think Mizzou will be bad this year. In fact, I think Mizzou is THE dark horse of the conference...

Mizzou will finish fourth at best and will lose to Tn by at least three td's in Knoxville.

Bookmarked

You TN fans say the same thing every year, yet only last year were you able to pull off a victory against Mizzou and it was against the worst Mizzou team since 1999.

Congrats?

You are a Missouri fan, you're obviously the idiot. You really think you're beating us this year? Please son, you don't have a chance in hell. That pathetic offense will be lucky to cross the 50 against us.
