Both of you are confusing California Polytechnic State University with California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech).
FWIW, Forbes ranks MIT, Stanford, and Cal-Berkeley ahead of Cal Tech, with Georgia Tech next in the top 5.
US News has the same top 4, in that order, with Carnegie-Mellon #5 and GT 7th.
