that LSU has more proven players on their squad
That's very debatable. Reuben Foster, Tim Williams, Jon Allen, Eddie Jackson, Marlon Humphrey, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Ronnie Harrison are elite and proven. Dalvin Tomlinson, Ryan Anderson, Daron Payne, Da'Shawn Hand..really good proven players. That's just the defense. Ridley, Stewart, Howard, Robinson is a good group to build around on offense, but LSU returns a lot of talent on that side of the ball as well. Defensively, nobody returns as much as Alabama though, that's not really up for debate. Don't get too hung up on "returning starters". Bama played 25 guys pretty regularly last year and many of them return. You're kidding yourself if you think they'll be anything less than the best defense in the country again

You named EVERY DB and DL that played serious quality minutes on the bama "D". That total was only eight players. That's not much experienced depth there. Especially in the secondary. The LBs aren't much better. They return five guys that played SEC quality minutes.
That's a grand total of 13 players returning that have SEC quality experience. Don't get me wrong now. Those new players might turn out awesome but, heading into '16 they really are an unknown quality.
saban's history at bama shows there will be a drop off in points allowed per game and total defense per game.
