I have shed tears of joy looking back at a season I coached a Jr High team to a championship, beating the team that had beaten us 26-0 in the regular season 16-12 in the championship game to win the title.

I don't know if I'm more proud that we won the championship or that every child on my team scored at lest one touchdown during the season.

My star player's older brother (who was my age) was dying of cancer and I brought him some joy joy making his little brother that LEAGUE MVP and our best player on offense and defense.

I was 17. The kids were 11-13. I was the youngest coach by at least two decades and some of my own players' parents complained before the season that it wasn't fair that their kids had a high-school student as coach while every other team had at least one adult coaching.

We kicked arse, finishing 11-2 overall, and avenging out two losses in the playoff.

I still taar up when I reminisce over that year and that team. Those kids had heart.
