Question for Mississippi residents, former and present, about your flag.

I just saw where in Philadelphia, protesters blocked a street until the Mississippi flag was removed from a pole. Apparently all 50 state flags were flying, now there's only 49.

Do you like the current flag, or would you prefer a new one?

I'm all for a new one if they can actually design a flag that doesn't look like complete shite like the last one they had a vote on.

Former Mississippi resident here.

Their current flag is shite.

Some badass concept flags out there tho.

I'm like most black residents in this state, I forgot about the state flag until WHITE liberals made a HUGE, and I mean HUGE issue out of it, following what a little racist piece of white trash did in Charleston, SC. But, for the sake of this State, I would vote to take it down, permanently.

I'm pretty much indifferent. I don't live in MS anymore, but if they voted to change it, I wouldn't care. I also wouldn't care if they voted to keep it.

Absolutely love the flag. Didn't really like it until it started offending people tho. Now I really like it. Whatever it takes to piss off these cucks in this country is alright with me.

I'm a fan of the old flag, not the current one.

They had a huge referendum in the State in the early 2000's to change it. Had Jesse and Al whipping up a firestorm leading up to the vote. On Election Day black voters didn't show up. That's why you don't hear the outcry from the NAACP now. They said "y'all had your chance". I am indifferent to it personally but the current flag was voted for by an overwhelming majority of voters in the state so it seems to be the flag the people want.

I used to live in Mississippi and wouldn't care if they changed it. I get why people don't like it.

Having said that, it is like a million other things in this country that people make a big deal over that will do nothing to cure the societal ills that plague that state. But it is easier to get attention making a fuss about a flag than actually enacting meaningful policy and changing the culture.

Honestly couldn't describe it to you if I tried. Flags are stupid, who cares?

I've lived here nearly 16 years and have experienced one public vote (that I didn't vote in) that expressed a majority to keep the flag. I have no argument in this either way (I grew up and went to college in Alabama), but if the people want to keep their flag, then that's good enough for me. I have black coworkers that voted to keep the flag (which pretty much had to happen because this is a close to 50/50 state). I understand the national opinion on the Virginia confederate battle flag, but the majority of people living in this state just don't have a problem with it. I think everyone living outside of MS just needs GTFO with their comments because it doesn't affect them.

Don't care about the flag thing one way or the other.

Anybody that actually takes time to argue about it is a douche with too much time on their hands

I'm all for a new flag. I feel like there is a bit of a double standard when it comes to the "stars and bars". The same people I know that call trashy's trashy for flying the "stars and bars" behind their shitty MasterCraft on the lake are the same dipshits who support a flag with the shite plastered on it and call it "heritage".

Don't really care one way or the other. It seems like residents of other states have an issue with it more than Mississippi residents.

If I lived in Mississippi I'd retaliate by hauling down my Pennsylvania flag and burn it. Oh snap, there are no Pennsylvania flags in Mississippi. I guess then I wouldn't care what Philadelphia does.
