Inevitable as in like you said, unregulated reproduction inevitably leading to depleted resources and ecosystems. This is a very real problem and folks don't want to talk about the remedy.

We'll have to employ a human solution to avoid catastrophe. If we "let nature take its course," the results promise to be gruesome.

Already, 2 billion of the 7.4 billion people alive today don't have enough to eat. There is virtually no discussion about the long term balance of population and resources.

Earth's population has tripled since 1950. America's success has inspired a global westernization of the world's cultures.

It was once said that the earth has enough natural resources to sustain but one United States. Now, in the 21st century most everyone wants to be like us.

Even with slowing but still increasing rates of population expansion, the other nations of the world are playing catch up to the standard of living in America. The rush to convert resources to wealth is causing those countries to turn a blind eye to the environmental destruction in their lands.

Because we all occupy just one biosphere, what one country does will ultimately affect every nation. It isn't too late yet but the tipping point is getting closer.

I just don't think that I could acquire a taste for soylent green.

Shrinking the population is next to impossible without the destruction of civilization as we know it. Most of the world relies on having more young people than old people, by a lot. A shift in that dynamic would lead to chaos and violence.

Communism and big government is an even bigger problem. Lets not adopt China's practices.
