It's going to be McFadden and Jones because of this single statistic:
In his three years, Darren McFadden finished 4th, 1st and 1st in rushing in the SEC
In his three years, Felix Jones finished 10th, 2nd and 4th in rushing in the SEC.
Cadillac finished in the top 10 twice in his 4 years at Auburn, 3rd in 2003 and 2nd in 2004. Ronnie Brown finished 5th in 2002 and 7th in 2004. 2004 was the only year with both in the top 10 with Williams at 2nd and Brown at 7th.
For reference.. in 2003, Arkansas had a pair of backs in the top 10.. Cedric Cobbs at 2nd and Matt Jones at 7th :P
Similarly for Fournette and Guice, who have shared 1 year together.. Fournette finished 2nd and Guice finished outside the top 10. Fournette finished 7th his freshman year.
One might argue for Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams if Williams did not lose his senior season.
The two years they were together Williams finished 10th and 4th while Collins finished 8th and 5th in the SEC in rushing.
So, I think we should argue that the MINIMUM criteria for a backfield to be considered the best duo, they must have at least two seasons with BOTH backs in the top 10 in the SEC in rushing.
