Wouldn't 0-40 to Auburn in 1957 be closer to the 42 mark then that?

In what order are those posted?
I get they are divided by division but there's no rhyme or reason beyond that

Yes. That is Bama's largest margin of defeat ever. They've never lost by 42+.
Not quite but close. In 1906, the super duper early days of football, we lost to Vandy 78-0.
We also lost to Sewanee by 50 in 1907.
Outside of that we have never lost by insane margins.
In fact Alabama has only given up 50 points (in regulation) a total of 3 times (coming in 1900, 1906, and 1907)

why would you pick this game? They've never lost by 42+ in the modern era, but here are some bigger defeats that aren't even that long ago
2003: lost to LSU 27-3
1998: lost to Arkansas 42-6
1998: lost to Va Tech 38-7
1997: lost to LSU 27-0

So you'll do 1951 but won't go before 1990? Lame.

Went to this game. It was senior day and some of the seniors didn't even come out to be recognized because they hated Nutt. Team was in shambles. I think LSU scored twice in the first 2 minutes and the fans started to leave. By the fourth quarter the LSU fans started doing the Ole Miss cheers when they got 1st downs because no one was left.
The program has come a long way even if they had to cheat to get there.
