Maybe, maybe not. It moved us many miles away from the silo though. It also put several mountains between us, in case there were more or larger explosions. More importantly it took us out of the typical wind patterns that could possibly drop nuclear fallout on the family. That's how my parents explained it at least. Hell maybe that's my problem.
