The thing that sticks out to me about coach croom was when he first got there he got a really athletic qb (Omar Conner) and said we're going to make him a west coast qb in a west coast offense. It didn't work for shite but he was stubborn. After Conner they had Wesley Carroll and henig (not nearly the athletes Conner was) and said well we're going to simplify things and run some zone read. Then they take the best high school RB type player in the state of mississippi (derek pegues) in maybe a decade and they make him a DB. The guy made some puzzling decisions.

But I'll say this, he tried very very hard to ensure that he ran a clean program that produced quality young men. Hugh Freeze is sort of he anti-croom.

Well, let's see here... He had -

Jerious Norwood who went on to sign with the Falcons.
Anthony Dixon who went on to sign with San Fransisco.
and
Christian Ducre who went on to sign with the Saints.

I would call that a good move by Croom. Pegues was a hell of a safety and hell of a kick off/punt returner.

There's a reason why many opposing coaches who got fired during Sly's tenure were referred to as being "Croomed." Losing to them was bad enough to roll some heads, so it's kinda telling about how his prowess as a head coach and manager of a program was perceived.

Great person though, and I don't recall hating the Packers' rushing attack when he had his stop in Green Bay.
