Unless Hurts is a genius and just picks up on everything mentally much quicker than almost every other freshman, his best bet would be to RS or at most have a package for him in certain situations like redzone or short yardage.

Maybe he is a genius and looks at the playbook a couple of times and has it memorized, etc but odds are it will be one of the older guys who has been in the system at least a year. Personally, I think it will be a Bateman/Barnett battle. Only chance BB8 wins it is if he figures out how to protect the ball, which he hasn't done in practice yet. Best bet is Bateman starts against USC...if he owns it, the job is his. If he struggles BB8 will get a shot.

First off, if you think that it takes a genius to pick up on a playbook, you are sadly mistaken. It isn't rocket science. And if you think that he's only looked at our playbook "a couple of times" then you are also sadly mistaken.

He looked like he was running the plays at least just as good as any other QB on the team in April, and that was with him only being on campus for 4 months.

I will agree that the odds are against him, but I am of the opinion that he is that special.
