I'm talking about when it says to do unspeakably horrible things. Those don't apply to us, they can skip the generalities. We already know not to kill people. We didn't need middle easterners from 2,500 years ago to tell us not to.

Well, I'm of the opinion that in today's society - any sane and rational thinking person would know this. I'm also of the opinion that not every single verse in the Bible is meant to be taken literally. I've even been told this by priests, nuns, preachers, etc.

I don't pretend to be a theologian at all, but I do live by common sense and a Faith in God and Jesus Christ. So, if ignoring the "horrible" parts of the Bible, and referring to its "good" teachings for a basis of character, honesty, and understanding makes me stupid, then so be it.

Call me whatever names make you feel better, but I'll continue to believe what I believe - just as you will. That's what makes America great.

You're a perfect example of what I think every single Christian in america should be like.

You are wonderful. You admit it. And because that I respect you. While you may say you may not want my respect, what it means is I respect you because you're honest to me. You don't try to pretend you're conflicted with things like being told to stone people. You don't struggle with that, because it's clearly insane and you're a better person than to obey that. And you will never hear a word from me directed at you about religious topics because of it.

Christianity can be a good life with strong community and great. And we as a country need to let Christians embrace that community. But not if they cannot seperate themselves from the savages in the desert. That's not where creation began and who can even make heads or tails of half the symbolic stuff you read in it?

But we do have a creator. You feel it, and I feel it. And I think when you "pray" to him, he doesn't mind the frivolous efforts you go in your ritual to do so. Nor does he need your attempt. If he did, he would let us know in a much clearer way than a document from middle easterners 2,500 years ago that tells us to stone girls and other things we know today are false also.

We're asking ourselves "why are moderate Muslims not rejecting extremist Muslims", Our sensible Christians need to speak out against our Christians who believe what you're willing to be honest about and let go of.

Now go tell your fellow Christians to knock it off. Believing in the Old Testament isn't the only fricking way to believe you're created.
