Don't go too late in October. The amount of daylight starts to significantly drop off during the month of October... as does the temperature.

I went to Norway in June a few years ago. It was beautiful. Everyone speaks flawless English. We spent a couple of days in Oslo, then took the train to Bergen. I liked Bergen more than Oslo. We also took a boat ride up the Sognefjord.... probably in the Top 2 or 3 most beautiful places I've ever seen.

If nature is what you crave, Norway is a great choice. It's a bit short on sights as well as history though. And it was by far the most expensive place I've ever visited. Keep that in mind.
