As far as whoever the poster was that mentioned Germany, Beerfest in Munich-Bayern (Bavaria region). There are several great places to visit. What I like most about Munich is the fact that you can get a Bayern ticket. Which is about 23 euros a person per day. But the more people you have the better it gets. 2 ppl cost 28, 3 cost 33. ETC.. Basically it goes up by 5 euro increments for each additional person you add to it. Although I would recommend a rental car you can easily get around to damn near everywhere just on the Bayern ticket. That ticket covers travel to Salzburg, Austria as well, and I have heard it covers Switzerland, but not sure how that works. But the ticket also covers travel to Neucswhanstein Castle, Berchtesgaden, Zugspitze (highest mountain in Germany.

My favorite part of the Bayern region is the fact that its so close to so many other places. Venice is also only about a 3 hour drive from there, or you could just drive to the Brennero pass which is near all the areas before mentioned just to claim that you went to Italy. Also you can get to Prague dirt cheap from there if you wanted to take a quick train.

My only 100% true avoid list place would be Frankfurt, its a shitpile. Been many places and its one of my least favorite cities I have ever been.
