Just take it like a man. Don't get pissed because a father is irritable about the guy who is dating his daughter. That is how we roll. As for the racial thing, don't take it personally. The reality is that most people have limited exposure to other races and I don't think you should sweat him have trepidations. I am married outside of my race.

I reiterate, act like a man. That doesn't mean bowing up. That means being respectful to his daughter. It means being respectful to him and his wife. It means have the stones to walk into his house to be introduced as the boyfriend of his daughter. If he gives you shite, just take it. You will win him over as much as possible by proving that you take care of his daughter, treat her with respect, and handle your business. It takes time. Honestly, if you are a parent whose only exposure to black people is what you see on tv, wouldn't you have a natural fear for her? Same for black parents. Its human nature bud.

I watched my father take a lot of shite from his father in law. He did it because he cared about my mom and didn't want to cause a rift that would suck in his wife, her mother and everyone else. Be a man.
