I honestly don't understand people who think this way. Pervades politics, comments at bottom of news articles, etc. The whole "internet warrior" mentality of flaming comments you would not make in person is just childish.

Because they think the "I don't care" mentality somehow makes them cool.
While there may be a sample of people on this site who feel that way (not at all shocking, based on the tenor of the website), they're in the minority of the overall population of fans.
