It's a large population town. I would say that it is first a Saints town then an LSU town. To say that there are hardly any fans of LSU in New Orleans is absurd though.

The Saints are as much part of New Orleans as anything, so they are first in most people in the Metro's heart, but that doesn't mean LSU football doesn't get A LOT of support.
Although the Pelicans fanbase is getting better, they are nowhere near established like the Saints, and LSU basketball is a lot closer to the pro team if not more important to most people. Of course LSU baseball is way over the Zephyrs to most people in NO.

And what they don't seem to get, AGAIN, is that the population of the 'City' or, Orleans Parish if you will, is """""ONE THIRD"""""
the size of the Metro New Orleans area.
