The OU pitcher is the best in the country, limited Auburn to 3 runs in two games. OU would have swept Auburn had she pitched in game 2. Great series though, glad Auburn lost.

Damn, that sucks.

I obviously have no love for Auburn but I wanted them to win against OU.

I don't like their softball coach and their whole team just seems to have a stank attitude.

Oops, I was wrong and glad I was. Aubie has a great team but they need to be there and lose it like the Gators have before they finally win it. Good luck next year Tigers. I think you have the team to do it again next year.

Auburn had a great year and I am proud of how well they played, but to say they passed Alabama is premature at best.

Auburn has passed Alabama in 2015 and 2016, but it is by a very small margin. Both are still top 5 teams with talent and great coaching. It will likely flip-flop most years with both being very close, IMO.

It should make for a great rivalry for years to come.

Congratulation Auburn softball!
They showed a lot of heart throughout the entire tournament. I, also believe that the Ala/Auburn softball rivalry will be strong in the future.

I think so, too.

It might be more intense than football if Gus Malzahn doesn't circle the wagons.

They were fun to watch..Auburn can hit..I think that was a difference in Bama and Auburn this year.

fun fact, when Alabama Softball came on the scene in the 90s and early 2000s, it was on the back of crazy hitting, setting multiple home run records for the time.

Great series, Auburn ladies have a lot to be proud of. I must admit I was pulling for the Barn tonite. I have a feeling this isn't the last WCWS finals they will be playing in.
Much respect AU ladies!

If our girls could have beat OU, it would have probably happened. That would have pissed a whole bunch of people off. Maybe next year....

Agreed. Heartbreaking watching her return to her team with that pressure on her shoulders after she was thrown out. She was out out there on an island all by herself on national TV to win or lose it for her team. You could see the pressure in her eyes and the pain in her face when she got thrown out. She hung in there and battled Paige though. She has nothing to apologize about.

FIFY

Cheering for OU in anything is like cheering for Mexico in soccer. You try to respect how good the team is but the fan base makes you hope that they get their asses whipped.

Not 100% sure, I was told that ASU didn't want him to have his son on the staff.

That was dumb of them if true.

One of his sons, Corey, was already coaching in Birmingham and loved Alabama and Clint wanted to be near his grandkids. That son is on staff. The other son, Casey, wasn't officially on staff but was a "volunteer" coach. Casey, the one that was a volunteer left before the season to take a job with the Padres, but I've heard people say that Casey is in line to take over the program when Clint retires.
