The players who allegedly beat up Bowles were Orta and Maggitt, Johnson's roommates and best friends.
Much, much more likely that they were handling things how things get handled where they grow up than CBJ giving them some kind of directive to physically harm him after he had already alerted authorities.

I thought I read where the player had made comment s saying so, I'll take your word on it though.
