Does that change what happened?
If I were to Rob a bank but then later turn myself in or give the money back does that alleviate me from the robbery?

No one has said he put a hit on him.
The players who allegedly beat up Bowles were Orta and Maggitt, Johnson's roommates and best friends.
Much, much more likely that they were handling things how things get handled where they grow up than CBJ giving them some kind of directive to physically harm him after he had already alerted authorities.
