Jarran's kick
quote:
With the ball placed at the 10-yard line, Ifedi went first and knocked the kick through the uprights as the offensive players erupted. Then it was Reed's turn. His kick barely got over the cross bar, but it was still good.
Reed went again with a more solid make, and Ifedi missed his second attempt, giving the defense the win.
"That went to Jarran today," said Carroll afterwards. "He was 2-for-2. Nice job by him. Came through too. A lot of pressure on him too. A lot riding on that."
Asked if kicker Steven Hauschka should be worried about his job, Carroll added, "If Hauschka saw the elevation issue that we had, I think [Reed] nicked the crossbar on his first kick. So I think Hauschka is safe being the No. 1."
Carroll and the coaches want to get the rookies familiar with the culture as quickly as possible. And constant competition is at the center of the Seahawks' program.
"I thought the offense was going to be able to come [through] in the clutch," said seventh-round pick Kenny Lawler. "But we're always competing, and that's why it's fun here."

I guess it works for Carroll. Just always found his antics strange. Hard to argue against the results of his methods.
