Was it just $$$?

Did Steele see something we all only hypothesize as true in regards to LSU declining?

Seems like if the money was fairly even, a DC would only make a lateral jump if he sensed one team was in better shape than the other?

Or.. he was told he wasn't gonna have a job.. and that he should find a coach that probably can't even spell defense to hire him

Miles doesn't fire coaches, baw. He lets them find other opportunities at lesser programs.

I think it's more along the line of Les telling Steele "hey you're not very good at coaching defense and I made a mistake. You need to start sending out your resume."

When you have an Arkansas fan defending LSU, your troll has failed in spectacular fashion.

Isnt this the same Kevin Steele, that almost everyone on this message board made fun of LSU for hiring?

Dude is your problem now. Quit trying to troll LSU because they didn't put up a fight to keep him in BR.

There is a reason Saban demoted Steele after one year at Bama and promoted Smart to DC.

Frankly, I suspect LSU was too hostile an environment at the time. Uncertainty about Miles' job and rumblings of problems in the government combined with a lots of criticism directed at him. Auburn isn't going to be much easier, but it's a fresh start and Gus will last at least two more years. Hell, if Steele does a good job but Gus is out in two years, Steele would have a fighting chance to go for the HC job. He wouldn't have that at LSU, given how unpopular he'd become.

Auburn is going to have one of their worst defenses in years. They're in deep shite if Malzahn can't pull a serviceable quarterback out of his arse.

I am grateful to Kevin Steele...Had his defense NOT allow 70 points to be hung on Clemson in the Orange Bowl, Dabo would not have fired him and we would not have Brent Venables.
