re: who makes the weather decisions at games?

I was playing adult league softball in Atlanta at the complex in Dekalb County some years ago. I was at the plate batting (holding a metal bat) when lightning struck a foul pole down the first base line. The 1st baseman and base umpire were thrown about 20 feet toward the pitchers mound. I dropped my bat and headed off the field rather quickly.
