But those Auburn teams weren't good, so in some ways it is. I'm not saying Cowherd was right or not, I'm just saying Auburn has played Bama tough even when outgunned badly with Malzahn. The 4th quarter this year I think was a 6 point type game (or maybe late in the 3rd I don't recall but i know 2nd half).

The 2014 Auburn team went 8-5 (and were 8-3 going into the game). Alabama was winning 55-36 with 40 seconds left in the game.

The 2015 Auburn team went 3-4 at home. In their 4 losses they lost by :
- 9 win Miss St (8)
- 10 win Ole Miss (8)
- 10 win Georgia (7)
- 14 win Alabama (16)

I mean, is the expectation to win by 40? Malzahn's teams have Top 10-15 talent on them. Other than the LSU game in Baton Rouge Auburn pretty much played every game close (wins and losses).
