Now, yes. After being an NFL HC for a total of 10 seasons.
People have short term memories though. Pete Carrol went 6-10 in his first year as an NFL HC. Got fired.
In his next opportunity he went 10-6, 9-7, 8-8 (see the pattern of NOT getting better each year?). Got fired.
In Seattle, he went 7-9, 7-9 before finally breaking through to 11-5 and getting better from there. His first 6 seasons as an NFL HC he was a combined 47-49. Not exactly setting the world on fire.

Carroll does have that SuperBowl ring.
Saban spent a lot of years in the league with the Browns and Oilers as well as Miami and probably knows the NFL system as well as anyone. I think if an owner gave him total control over draft and personel decisions, he could win one too.....but yeah, he is a better college coach because he is the best recruiter out there...
