Good- it's an abuse of intent of the open records law to deem that a 20 year old getting arrested for underage drinking is critical info that must be shared for the good of society. By the time this 90-day window hits its old news

It's the state of Goeriga, not just UGA and Kirby didn't lobby for this at all. He, along with other head coaches and ADs from around the state, were summoned by state congress to give testimony about the legislation. The media runs with it and calls it Kirby's Law, when it has been talked about longer before he was named head coach. Nice spin though CockinmyButt.

No?

quote:

Smart has attempted to downplay his role in the bill’s passing, telling a radio interviewer today that it’s “ridiculous” that it’s being called “Kirby’s Law.” “I had very little to do with that,”

quote:

Smart visited the State Capitol to discuss the bill with lawmakers for four hours shortly before they passed it, and the chief of staff of one the bill’s co-sponsors said Smart was the prime mover behind the legislation.

Kirby just takes his civic duties super serious and randomly hangs out at the capitol and has private conversations with the legislature?

Look, other than typical mountain out of a molehill stuff the rant does, this isn't a big deal. Embrace it like others in this thread, but don't make outlandish claims like he didn't lobby for it. That's absurd.

I don't believe this new law is going to keep players' arrest records from being known. They'll get arrested by ACCPD or whichever other Police Dept and that info will be public after the bookings. However, if a player is arrested by UGA Police, and they file a report on it, that report won't have to even be acknowledged by a FOI request for 90 days. In the circumstance where a reporter wants copies of communication b/w someone in the UGA Ath Dept and anybody else, or financial data, those requests too would not have to be acknowledged for 90 days.

shite now if I want to tune into 680 the fan during lunch I will have to listen to Buck Belue fapping to the "Kirby Law".

It's become unbeable. I swear I don't know how Kirbs will have any energy for the season after his daily Belue felatio sessions.

He was asked by congress to meet with them. He simply answered their questions truthfully about programs he's been with in the past. Tom Krause took what he said in that Q&A session and added an amendment to an already passed bill by the state senate. You think reporters are going to put him in good standing here after it hurts their ability to write up bullshite before facts are found??? Although, I should expect this from you. You couldn't even read a police report right.....

quote:

"First of all, I shouldn’t get any credit for that," Smart said. "When I went over to the Capitol, I was asked what’s the difference in our program and some programs I’ve been at in the past. One of the things I brought up — there’s a difference. That was the extent of my conversation with those guys about that. So for me to get the credit for that is a little bit misleading"

quote:

"I’m a very process oriented person, as far as notification to approval," McGarity said. "We have to operate in that world now. As I’ve told y’all several times, if it’s drafts of contracts, it has to operate in another stratosphere because otherwise it would be an open record for you. It makes our job difficult to handle just our normal business to where we can’t work as more effectively as we could, dealing with everything from facility development to drafts of contracts. It makes our job that much more difficult. That’s why I think it’s helpful administratively for all institutions that are involved in this."

How anyone can listen to Belue for more than 3 seconds is a mystery to me. That voice is like a volleyball whistle.

from that same article you're quoting

quote:

Smart admitted he had a private conversation on the subject with the Georgia legislature.

And through all that he never lobbied or suggested what would be in his best interest?

You've lost your mind.

what in the hell are you yammering about here:

I should expect this from you. You couldn't even read a police report right.....

The sad part is I actually like the guy when he isn't talking UGA sports. Once he gets on that I have to change it.

Wrong. University does not control the University Police. They are their own entity and just titled University Police. Besides, this is not what the law is about. It is about recruiting information and constant requests for contact information. Do you just read one article that some shithead reporter writes because he thinks it's a law that prohibits him???

He thought they did $5000 in damages when $5000 was the bond amount. He just looks at something quickly and comes on here and posts without understanding what it is he is talking about.

It's the same law most states have already.

"It's a similar subject that, from what I understand, came to light through Kirby Smart at UGA," Krause told The Telegraph. "It had to do with football teams or athletic departments that are recruiting people in state of Georgia. They had a (shorter) window where the documents were not yet public, but other states had 90 days."

They are completely funded by the University of Georgia. How did you determine they are not controlled by the university?

quote:

The UGA Police Department is funded exclusively by the University, according to University Budget Supervisor Blake Waldrop. Each year, the police department makes a budget request to the UGA Budget Office, which is responsible for setting the entire UGA budget.

Do you think he's a shithead b/c he posted information you didn't like? Do you think this law will not prohibit or hinder any reporter from getting information through FOI requests?
