Kyle is a good, smart dude, but he is very clearly anti-Alabama. I don't know if it is being in Birmingham, having a kid at Auburn if I remember correctly, or what, but it is there.

Still, he's a solid dude all around and is generally pretty good at posting good stuff. I don't understand the Alabama/Tuscaloosa/academic/athletic stuff though. It might not be hate, maybe it is just an incredibly poor opinion of the school for some reason.

Likewise I generally enjoy your posts. You are clearly more knowledgeable than the average poster on this board, and immeasurably more knowledgeable than your average bama fan.

But I know this: If Bama had the NCAA tournament success of a program like Arkansas... or Florida... not a single bama fan would be talking about wins, or conference tournament titles, or any other metric. All evidence would be from your NCAA Tournament success.

But because that success is just not there for Bama, you and all these other Bama fans are twisting yourselves to try to convince the average fan out there to somehow have a higher regard for bama basketball and baseball than what exists.

I have no problem with the University of Alabama. But after living in this state for years I see a personality trait that exists in most Alabama fans that I would consider to be a flaw. It's odd to me. Alabama fans have had so much football success and have so much to be proud of when it comes to their team and their University. But for some odd reason, the need exists for most Alabama fans to hear it from opposing fans. Its as if a lack of praise from others might send them into a dark place.

I don't get it. Not all bama fans are this way, but this type of behavior is far more common than among other fan bases I've been surrounded by.

This entire thread is a case study.

See, I just disagree with the overall premise of this. I think that most of us acknowledge that the ultimate goal is the tournament. It weighs more than anything else. However, I think that the other items still have some weight, especially when the tournament successes are roughly equal. Florida is a perfect example. Alabama leads Florida in most all non-NCAAT Final 4/NCAAT categories. I can't imagine any Alabama people telling you Alabama is better than Florida historically in basketball. The chasm between what Florida has done in the postseason and what Alabama has done is large and more than wipes out any regular season, historical leads we have.

However, I think that regular season success counts a fraction of postseason, and when you take all that into account we are somewhere in the middle with Tennessee.

Tier 1 is Kentucky
Tier 2 is Arkansas, Florida
Tier 3 is LSU, Missouri
Tier 4 is Alabama, Tennessee
Tier 5 is Vanderbilt, Mississippi State
Tier 6 is South Carolina, Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia, Texas A&M

You've been living in this state for years - you are surrounded by Bammers and Aubs buddy and the Aubs don't have a whole lot to brag about in their Big 3 sports.

Awww. You're sweet, but I'm sensing a tone change coming.

For some odd reason, the fans of a team argue when someone downplays the team's accomplishments? NO. NO, I DON'T BELIEVE THAT FANS ACT THAT WAY GOOD SIR, DESPITE YOUR YEARS OF CAREFUL, THOUGHTFUL STUDY.

Uh huh. You're a very interesting case. In all my minutes of posting in this thread, I've never seen anything quite as painfully pretentious as you. IT'S QUITE ODD. QUITE ODD IT IS.
