Anyone who is cruel to animals ... especially on that level, needs to go to jail.

Frick him.

He brought it to the vet. Is this a case of being mean or abusive, or simply neglecting to care for it properly? The article doesn't really say.

Is it possible the dog was just hanging out around Cody's feet and he never saw it?

People who abuse or neglect animals are some of the worst people on earth. I hope he spend a lot of time in jail.

I guess this is an accurate statement, but he was convicted of 5 counts of animal neglect and acquitted of the 2 felony animal cruelty charges. I'm not sure that's any better in my eyes, but it is still important to note that he was only convicted of misdemeanors.

I don't really have a problem with him owning an alligator. Doesn't seem like he got any cruelty or neglect charges for that. I view it the same as the drug charges. I'm not sure why we need laws against these things. Was it an endangered alligator, or is that just considered an animal too dangerous for people to own?

Dr. Martha Smith-Blackmore, a forensic veterinarian, testified the dog died of starvation after being neglected for at least four weeks. She said the dog weighed less than half of what it should have when it died. On Friday, Cody took the stand and talked about his love of dogs. He said he thought Taz was suffering from heartworms when he took it to the vet.
