That is good. He is a good one and we have a great class coming in. Unlike Mullen he said no right away as well.

From what I've heard, they are happy in Starkville. Combine that with the class coming in next year plus what he saw out of the rest of the SEC this year, and it seems he would have to be excited about the potential success over the next few years at MSU.

Literally no one is happy living in Starkville, but for some reason this is always something you idiots bring up when a coach has a chance to leave.

The reason he is happy at MSU is because the SEC is hot garbage when it comes to basketball and he should be able to do very well there.

My thoughts exactly. Job security in Starkville with low expectations and SEC being terrible in basketball in general. He's not staying because it's a cultural oasis.

Doubt he would leave after year one with a good recruiting class coming in.

SEC has got to get better in basketball. Whether people think other conferences are overrated or not is up to them, but the SEC in general struggles from a bad perception that we don't care about basketball and the product on court will be bad. And this isn't a thing about "conference pride" or anything, it's just a matter of when we have teams that have 20+ wins and still don't make the tournament, it's a huge issue.

Think the foundation is set at many of the schools with good HCs, now it's just a matter of putting the right product on the court.

Rick Stansbury was there for 22 years and still has a house on Browning Creek. Yeah - literally no one.

We currently have head coaches from New Hampshire and Santa Barbara, CA in the big 2 sports, whereas Ole Miss has pulled them in from Independence, MS and Louisville, MS. No wonder Oxford looks like such a gem to some people. "Going into town" is a big deal sometimes.

What's funny is that these OM fans thought you were agreeing with them

Bottom line is they've had chances to leave and they haven't. If they weren't happy living in Starkville, more importantly if their wives/kids weren't happy then they would be gone.

Pittsburgh would be a sideways move at best.

not sure if it was goodman/parrish, who has been nailz on the coaching rumors, but he said Howling is building a 2.4+million dollar mansion down there in Mississippi.

So i bet this is his last calling, before he retires.

He has the ability to do the same thing at State as he does in Pittsburgh. Easier path overall in thenSEC than ACC. Food, people, and weather much better in Mississippi than up North in Pennsylvania. He lived in L.A., could be at this stage in his life he's not looking for big city lights.

I have no doubt he loves LA but he has an easy path to the NCAA through the SEC and he is making boatloads of money. Pitt would be a lateral move. He is also older so probably not looking to restart somewhere else. He said this would be his last job when he took it.

Ole Miss people really overestimate Oxford and underestimate Starkville. They are so obsessed they come in like clock work to hate on Starkville
