The midweek games can be more difficult than one would think, as the smaller school will often pitch their ace, while the SEC or major school will usually be saving their staff for the weekend conference series.

FSU has been known to do this to UF from time to time.

That's true and it depends on which team you face. Some non conf oppenents will toss an ace as you said or at least one of their best pitchers to knock off an Sec type team while an Sec team juggles around new guys. Part of being in the most powerful conference in the nation.
