Nothing except rotating the stadium will make the stands bearable on a hot day. Nothing. That's not hyperbole
As much as I'd like for us to do that, we don't play many day games. It's not as pressing a need as upgrading the quality of the stadium.

Pretty shocking how completely shitty Florida's facilities are.
I don't know what that says about us. Well it def. says we suck but in a worse way I think.

Honestly it doesn't say too much. The instate talent in Florida is far better than Arkansas.

They pull kids from all over too.
We don't pull shite is my point. All that money spent and not a whole lot to show other than Baseball and Track and Field since 1994.

I agree with you to an extent
Please understand that I mean no criticism, I'm just a facilities junkie.
It's easy for me to say UF should aim higher, as I don't have to balance the books. And as I stated before, LSU will most likely go nearly the same route when renovating the PMAC that UF did with the O Dome.
A new arena at LSU is a fantasy, considering that the basketball practice facility is relatively new...and attached to the north side of the PMAC...and the new gymnastic practice facility was just completed adjacent to the PMAC.
The best scenario LSU fans like myself can hope for is a renovation that adds suites and/or court-side club seating while keeping capacity about the same.
Really hope your AD reconsiders not flipping the baseball stadium.

I agree with you to an extent, I believe we should have an arena in the 13-14K seat range but a new arena wasn't really under consideration. I don't think we are settling, I think we are addressing an immediate need for a program of UF's caliber. There are a lot of costly facility issues that will be addressed soon, including a football operations building. Building a whole new arena in conjunction with everything else would cost too much right now.
I been saying for several years now that Foley totally missed the boat on upgrading facilities. His penny pinching has lost us the arms race in the 2 most furious sports (football and basketball). Both of our programs should have shot up into the stratosphere but Foley kept us a regional school when we should have been a national juggernaut. Many of our facilities are embarrassing and just doing a patch job won't suffice.
Oh, but I forgot that he's the best AD on the entire planet.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the facilities are "shitty", and I wouldn't just point the finger at UF.
Take UGA, for example. Explain how a baseball program with a history and with resources like UGA's settles for a stadium upgrade that leaves them with a capacity less than half that of the stadium's of the Mississippi schools.
It boggles my mind how tight-fisted the AD's at both UGA and UF have been. Remember that these are the last two schools in the SEC to build indoor practice facilities for football.

I don't take it as a criticism. It is a debate among Florida fans, many aren't happy we decided to dump so much money into a renovation of a building that no one sees as the long term solution.
An issue for us is that the O'Dome is very much a multi-purpose building. We don't need two arenas, so we'd have to build a new swimming & diving facility, a new gymnastics practice facility, etc. It would take a while.

A further issue...please don't take this the wrong way...is how UF uses the land it has available.
I don't know if you've visited the LSU campus, but both campuses are about the same size in terms of acreage...about 2,000 acres.
The difference is, LSU lakes are on the east side of the campus, while UF's lake is smack dab in the center of campus.
UF also tends towards lots of smaller class room buildings, whereas LSU builds larger, taller buildings.
The end result is that there is more open space on the LSU campus. It feels larger. And there's more usable space for athletics as a result.
UF would free up a lot of space on their campus if the AD would move the golf course off campus and develop the existing course.
Again, just my Civ City expertise at work.

Still small and less shitty with new seats. Yawn.

Don't understand why Serraneaux insists on the Florida icon. Too embarrassed to be associated with Tennessee?

Finally. Florida's gym is really trashy looking on the inside. Needed the upgrade.
