Seems sad to me that the kids will miss out on the postseason just because the state/school is poor.

It can't hurt. LSU is already claiming a tax deduction for its NIT bid donation to Alabama. It looks like the savings may be enough to fire Johnny and bring Avery home.

Part of me wishes they were playing in the NIT but I'm having trouble seeing the benefit of doing that. This team doesn't give a flying frick so whats the good in playing the tournament they never want to play in?

The state isn't poor. In fact the economy is doing pretty good considering oil prices.
The State Government CLAIMS it's poor.
LSU only receives 11% of its entire budget from the State. New taxes proposed by Edwards are in near future.
The LSU Athletics Dept is completely self-supporting and doesn't get one thin dime from the State, one of just a few university athletic depts in the country to do so, unlike ala-shame-a....
